What is cold process soap?
Cold process soap is a natural soap made using base oils, lye, and other natural ingredients. This method allows for the creation of unique and beneficial products for the skin that do not contain harsh chemicals or artificial additives.
Benefits of cold process soap:
— Natural Ingredients: Only high-quality oils and natural additives are used.
— Customization: Create soap tailored to your skin type and preferences.
— Safety: Free from synthetic ingredients, parabens, and sulfates.
— Aesthetics and aroma: Beautiful and fragrant soap bars that enhance the bathroom experience and provide a pleasure to use.
Manufacturing process:
- Choosing oils: Select base oils like olive, coconut, palm, and castor oils, each with a range of beneficial properties for the skin.
- Preparing the lye solution: Lye (usually sodium hydroxide) is dissolved in water. This step requires caution and adherence to safety rules.
- Mixing oils and lye: oils are heated and mixed with the lye solution. This process, known as saponification, results in the formation of soap and glycerin.
- Adding extras: Essential oils, herbs, spices, clays, and other natural additives can be incorporated at this stage to give the soap unique properties and scents.
- Pouring into molds: The soap mixture is poured into molds and left to harden.
- Curing: After being removed from the molds, the soap needs to cure for 4-6 weeks. During this time, saponification completes and the soap's properties improve.
Cosmetics contain herbal ingredients, please test for allergies on a small area of skin.
